The Water Quality Data Viewer (“Viewer”) was created for informational purposes only. Data presented in the Viewer are generally historical in nature and may not represent the most up-to-date water quality conditions, assessment and listing status, or water quality standards. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) and the Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) make(s) no representations or warranties, express or implied, with respect to the accuracy, suitability, or reliability of these data for any purpose. The Viewer will be periodically updated to reflect additions and/or changes to the data. Since there may be errors, omissions or other inaccuracies, the data presented in the Viewer are not intended for regulatory or other decision-making purposes. For any errors or inaccuracies identified, there could be delays in making corrections.
The Viewer and its contents are not official documents nor do they constitute legal advice regarding the Massachusetts Surface Water Quality Standards (“SWQS”). By using the data, the user acknowledges and accepts the data provided by MassDEP “as is” and any reliance is at the user’s own risk and expense. Furthermore, users acknowledge and accept that other data sources may exist, and that conclusions reached through use of this information are the user’s responsibility. Users are advised to check with MassDEP for current information and official determinations. EEA and MassDEP are not liable for improper or incorrect use of these data, or any injury, damage or loss resulting from the use of and/or reliance on this data.
For the SWQS data layer, MassDEP made every effort to carefully duplicate the text from the 2013 version of the SWQS regulations at 314 CMR 4.06, Tables 1 through 28. However, this data layer does not replace the Tables. In the case of inconsistency between the text in the Tables at 314 CMR 4.06 and corresponding depictions as georeferenced information, the text in the Tables shall control. For the latest (2021) promulgated version of the SWQS, go to "Helpful Links".
